San Francisco Local Hire Mandatory Implementation

The implementation of the City’s new mandatory local hiring policy is a top priority for the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD). Understandably, many within the construction industry are eager to know how and when the policy will be implemented. OEWD wants to assure everyone that we are already well and underway planning the implementation of the policy.

The effective date of the local hiring ordinance is March 25, 2011. In other words, public works or improvement projects first advertised for bids on or after March 25, 2011 are all covered by the new ordinance.
