A Message From the Director

Dear Friends,

Even in these challenging times, we see areas of strength and resiliency in the San Francisco economy. I wanted to highlight some of these in this edition of the OEWD Quarterly Update – our regular newsletter to the San Francisco business community.

Companies large and small are making commitments to stay, grow and locate in San Francisco: Levi Strauss & Co. announced that they are renewing their lease and continuing their legacy in the City and five new biotech companies are locating in Mission Bay through a new incubator initiative.

Our development projects are moving forward and attracting recognition: the Treasure Island Redevelopment Project was selected for the Climate Positive Development Program.

We are seeing the results of the City’s local economic stimulus plan with two local small businesses each receiving $25,000 from the Revolving Loan Fund.

OEWD’s international business development initiatives continue to be an engine for growth with ChinaSF brining both new companies to the City and connecting San Francisco based businesses to opportunities China, as described in the story on Heller Manus Architect’s project in Guangzho.

Lastly, OEWD is leading the City’s outreach effort to inform and help San Francisco businesses access valuable tax incentives, workforce programs, green incentives and other city programs. To learn more click here or contact us at 415-554-6969.

We think San Francisco businesses are too important to fail, and that’s why OEWD working continually to make San Francisco an even better place to work and do business.
