Neighborhood Marketplace Initiative
POLK STREET
Located south of Nob Hill and north of the Tenderloin, the lower Polk Street corridor is an intermingling of the eclectic and San Francisco's claim to edginess. A walk down Polk Street activates all the senses, satiating residents and visitors alike. Polk Street is at the center of the city, accessible to residents, visitors, and independent businesses looking for a unique and thriving residential and commercial enclave.
During the day, residents, shoppers, and students from the Academy of Art and Culinary Academy convene at local favorite Quetzal Café, visit street culture art galleries, and bargain hunt at hip thrift shop Out of the Closet. A diverse array of restaurants, street culture art galleries, and lounges supporting talented independent music reflect a vibrant neighborhood commercial district.
As night falls, Bay Area revelers have many entertainment options, from the Great American Music Hall to bar favorites Temple Bar, Lush Lounge, and O’Reilly’s Holy Grail, where independent rock bands showcase their talents. Residents coming home from work unwind and workout at Funky Door Yoga or the Titanium Training Center.
