Mayor Newsom Welcomes Leading Solar Firm, Yingli Green Energy Americas to San Francisco

7-15-09: Mayor Gavin Newsom today welcomed Yingli Green Energy Americas, Inc. (“Yingli Americas”) North American Operations Center to San Francisco. Yingli Americas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited ("Yingli Green Energy"), one of the world's leading photovoltaic ("PV") product manufacturers. Yingli’s presence adds to the accelerating hub of Chinese solar firm operations in San Francisco, reaffirming not only San Francisco’s position as a cleantech industry leader, but also as the gateway for Chinese companies into North America.

San Francisco offers a leading hub of clean technology firms, top-notch talent, concentrated consumer demand for cleantech, proximity to the Pacific Rim and access to the North American market. Chinese firms, like Yingli, bring the rising strength of Chinese entrepreneurship, their rapidly growing industry expertise, and the ability to take these innovations to mass scale.”

Yingli’s Operations and Customer Support team will be based out of the new San Francisco office, located at 601 California Street, and led by Director of Operations Brian Grenko.

Yingli connected with ChinaSF services through ChinaSF partner, CB Richard Ellis’ San Francisco office. ChinaSF will continue to work with Yingli to support their entry into the San Francisco cleantech community.

Mayor Newsom made the announcement today in remarks given at the Freiberg Institute Intersolar Technology Conference.
