Eastern Neighborhoods Join Forces with OEWD to Form CBD

A grassroots coalition of residents, small business owners and commercial property owners in three areas of the Eastern section of San Francisco, Northeast Mission, Showplace Square and the Central Waterfront neighborhoods, are working together to create a new Community Benefits District (CBD) focused on small business support and economic development across these historically industrial neighborhoods. To realize this vision, OEWD has provided a grant and technical assistance to the PACE-SF CBD Steering Committee. PACE-SF is an acronym for Production, Artisanal, and Creative Enterprises-San Francisco.

The proposed PACE–SF CBD will provide needed services and programs specifically designed to support the growth of existing businesses, attract new businesses into the CBD area, and strengthen the financial success of existing and new commercial properties within the CBD. If approved CBD Services would include:

  • Commercial property owner outreach/support service
  • Commercial property/leasing support
  • Business outreach/support services
  • Branding and marketing of the neighborhoods
  • Community-building and advocacy for the area

The proposed PACE-SF CBD must first be approved by the property owners in both a petition and a ballot vote, and then by the Board of Supervisors. Petitions have been mailed out to all property owners in the proposed CBD and copies can be received by contacting Kate Sofis at ksofis@urbaninnovationsf.org. For more information visit the PACE-SF CBD website www.pace-sf.org.
